• Question: Can we replace damaged human brain parts with technology?

      I don’t think they can replace actual brain parts with technology as they are so intricate and perform so many tasks we are not even aware of. I do know that they have replaced a large portion of someones skull. The took a scan of their skull and then were able to get the exact measurements and then 3D printed the shape and attached it to his head.

      Not yet as we simply don’t have a clue how the brian works. A major funding body for science (The Wellcome Trust) has listed this as fundamental challenge for science over the next 20 years.

      While a lot of research has been done on brains and how everything works the truth of the matter is we just don’t know enough yet to develop technology to replace damaged parts. It’s such a complicated organ that is sending so many signals to the body at any one time – many of which we don’t even realise are happening!
