      I sincerly hope there is not another World War.

      Chemical warfare is still being used in the battles that are still going on. There are many scientist working to find ways to detect these chemicals before they are used in wars.

      I also hope there is no such thing.

      However war has always led to innovation and chemistry has always played a role in this (the Haber-Bosch process was invented to make ammonia for bombs; obviously the chemical agents you mention; the Manhattan Project to name but a few).

      I doubt any conflict in future would be any different.
