17. My English techer spotted it first. I was demonstrating the synthesis of oxygen (lighting a glowing splint) to potential first years at an open day and he told my parents during a teacher meeting that I was going to be a scientist.
17 I think. I have always been fascinated by science but it was the beginning of A-levels when it clicked. My A-level chemistry teacher really believed in me and saw I had the potential to be a good scientist.
I dunno, just didn’t want a desk job and I enjoyed chemistry so thought I’d study that at Uni then went on from there, but to be honest I still haven’t decided what type of career i’d like.
