  I think its really great when the government is made more aware that scientific research requires more funding. However I really don’t like that it takes pandemics or other serious incidents to give them this awareness.
  There will always be the demand for more research but without government funding it is very challenging to get things done.

  I agree with Sarah – people get sick and die all the time, not just from headline grabbing pandemics. Research is the only way to develop cures for the many illness we suffer from. It should be obvious to governments, but there is only so much money to go around.
